The Sydney Business Chamber says it is vital the State Government proceed with local council amalgamations in Sydney.

“For Sydney it is absolutely essential the Government proceeds with its plan to merge councils,” said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.

“Sydney has too many councils to achieve effective strategic planning goals set by the Greater Sydney Commission to manage Sydney’s future growth,” Mrs Forsythe said.

“The example of the amalgamated Northern Beaches Council developing a coastal walkway from Manly to Palm Beach which will become a great Sydney attraction was only possible because of the shared vision across the amalgamated area,” she said.
