Lockout law changes a positive for Sydney

The Sydney Business Chamber believes the adjustment to Sydney’s lockout laws is a positive step to address the apparent decline in Sydney’s night time economy.

Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber said, “This is a sensible adjustment in line with recommendations from the Callinan Review and it will be welcomed generally by businesses across the city.”

NSW Cabinet this morning has signed off on lockout changes with closing times moved from 3am to 3.30am and lockout from 1.30am to 2am.

“These changes are in the right direction and are important for Sydney’s night time economy.

“This will help address the reputational hit Sydney has taken as a consequence of the lock out laws and ensures Sydney is known as a vibrant yet safe city,” Mrs Forsythe said.
