The Sydney Business Chamber says Sydney’s goal to be the number one global innovation city in the Southern Hemisphere is on track following Microsoft’s decision to move to Wynyard.
“Having technology giant Microsoft move into the Sydney Startup Hub at Wynyard is a massive vote of confidence for the city and will significantly boost the economy,” said Patricia Forsythe, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.
“It is great news that Microsoft has chosen to deliver its program, Microsoft Scale-Up, in Sydney – making it one of eight locations in the world.
“The startup hub is accelerating high-value jobs and encourages businesses to thrive while being supported by Jobs for NSW, through its Building Partnerships Grant Scheme.
“With its close proximity to transport, active spaces and other businesses, the startup hub has the potential to create thousands of high-value jobs across the state,” Mrs Forsythe said.
“The Chamber congratulates the NSW Government on its strategy and the $35 million investment to create the Sydney Startup Hub.
“A world-leading hub of this kind is the accelerator Sydney needs to attract and hold young local talent.
“It is clear the startup hub has already drawn interest from many innovative and creative businesses and today’s announcement is the icing on the cake,” Mrs Forsythe said.
