Thousands of jobs planned for south-west Sydney

The Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney, says south-west Sydney will soon enjoy the creation of thousands of jobs and huge economic investment following the approval of stage one of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Precinct.

David Borger, Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney, said, “Once completed, Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Precinct will result in the creation of about 7000 jobs and $9 billion in economic benefits for the area.

“It is expected a large proportion of these jobs will be university and TAFE-qualified roles, meaning high-value jobs will come out of Liverpool and surrounding suburbs.

Planning authorities yesterday approved stage one of the project and construction is due to start early next year and first rail operations due in 2018.

“Moorebank will not only boost productivity but will also increase the share of freight carried on rail rather than road, meaning it will ease traffic pressures off our road network,” Mr Borger said.
