Western Sydney Stadium to boost local economy
08 Dec 2016
"The Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney says the community will benefit from the new Western Sydney Stadium, after designs for the 30,000-seat venue were released today.
Lendlease has won the contract to build the new stadium, which will include rooftop cover, 54 suites, 3000 premium seats and room to accommodate 40,000 concert-goers.
David Borger, Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney, said, “This exciting development will result in a far better experience for sports fans than what is currently available to them now.
“This will be more than just a stadium, it will be an entertainment and cultural hub and it will be bigger and better.
“Hopefully it will attract some great acts to Parramatta as well as more sporting teams.”
Mr Borger said the Western Sydney Stadium would also be a good outcome for local businesses.
“It will be a shot in the arm for the night-time economy when the thousands of sports fans make their way through Church Street.
“The Western Sydney economy will be boosted, with 1200 jobs created during construction and 900 jobs once it is finished.
The stadium will be designed to have Australia’s steepest stands so fans can be closer to the action and will include Wi-Fi and an outside zone for markets.
“We are excited to be getting a world-class venue in Parramatta that everyone will be able to enjoy,” Mr Borger said.
Work on the stadium will start next year and is due to be completed by 2019."
